DR JOHN TORLINE IS A SPECIALIST PSYCHIATRIST BASED IN CAPE TOWN
Dr Torline is committed to delivering individualised care that includes medical assessments, lifestyle guidance, psychotherapy, and considered use of psychiatric medications. His practice is based at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Cape Town, focussing on outpatient care for adults aged 18 to 60. Patients requiring inpatient psychiatric treatment are admitted to Life St Vincent's Clinic, where a multidisciplinary team collaborates to provide comprehensive care. Dr Torline's career began in complementary health, and though he no longer practises it, he maintains a holistic approach. He earned his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and specialised in Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town (UCT). His professional background includes roles at the Maternal Mental Health Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital, along with research and consultancy at the Groote Schuur Transgender Clinic. Dr Torline serves as an Honorary Lecturer at UCT’s Department of Mental Health and Psychiatry, contributing to training and research supervision. In 2024, Dr Torline, alongside a team of specialists, introduced a virtual reality service at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, offering access to this innovative and effective treatment modality.
